Abstract by Franz Hughanne Ramos Tionko and Priscilla Marie Cammayo Rivero (JD1 SY 2020-2021)
Rape, Sexual Assault and Molestation cases have increased throughout time and are still
escalating. These problems never left our society and have greatly impacted the lives of those who had experienced them first hand. While there have been various studies made to contribute and spread awareness globally there are lesser actions being done in the local scene. Thus, the researchers decided to focus on the Legal and Psychological Aspects of Rape, Sexual Assault and Molestation Locally. Included in the study are defining the aforementioned topics, Laws Protecting Women, Agencies promoting
Women’s Rights, Measurements done by the Government to prevent such crimes from increasing, and lastly, the landmark Cases in Bacolod and the reason behind the rulings.
To supply the study with the sufficient data it needs, the researchers shall interview Attorneys that specialize in Rape, Sexual Assault and Molestation Cases to provide the proper legal advice and procedures for the steps to be taken to file such cases. The researchers shall also interview survivors or living testimonies of such crimes and how it affected their lives and on the Psychological aspect. Additionally, the researchers shall interview a psychiatrist to impart how the victims are being assessed and as well as their coping measures.
By the end of the study the researchers aim to be able to clearly define and differentiate Rape, Sexual Assault and Molestation. Furthermore, there will be supplementary information that will show the legal procedures for filing a case under the aforementioned topics. Lastly, a summary of the psychological assessments shall also be included.
